After reaching NJP station, you can opt for a taxi or a taxi rental service like Himalayan Wheels. The drivers usually ask more than the fair price and which can be quite uncomfortable and costly for you. But here at Himalayan Wheels, we always ask for the exact price and the cars we provide are also quite comfortable. The drivers we provide are experienced enough and know how to behave politely with customers.
If your plan is to go for a little cheap option, you can take a shared taxi. You can find many shared taxis from NJP railway station or even from Siliguri. You have to bear troubles if you want to get a shared taxi from Siliguri as you must take an auto to reach there. Shared taxis usually does not start until it is completely full, thus you have to wait and let other passengers come first. Shared Taxis carry your luggage on the roof-top of the car and because of this, your luggage can get damaged. But here at Himalayan Wheels, we take care of you including your luggage so that you can travel tension free.
Buses usually run from Siliguri to Gangtok through the national highway 10(formerly known as NH 31A). Sikkim Nationalized Transport (SNT) offers Sikkim State buses from its bus terminal at Siliguri. It is located near Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminal. After reaching NJP, you can take an auto to come to the SNT bus terminal. There are many buses available to Gangtok at an interval of 1 hour starting at 8:30 am until 1:30 pm. The last bus from this terminal to Gangtok runs at 3:30 pm. There are also many private buses available from SNT.
Journey by bus has many disadvantages and one of them is that you can't get any buses directly from New Jalpaiguri. You have to bear the hassle of reaching Siliguri first. But if you let us help, we can pick you up directly from NJP.
